yeah got the album yesterday.. fucking amazing. i take back everything i said before.. this album is far better than killer. his lyrics are exciting.

show me a god -
mad song. tech shows a lot of passion about something that's obviously extremely important to him. not his tightest verses.

demons -
starts with a short intro with tech explaining his demonic/angelic nature. then the chorus pops straight in - using a child's voice (suiting the track fantastically). the idea of the song is great, covers exercising demons. i'm not very familiar with the 3 6 mafia but from what i hear on this track one of the pair is clearly a better rapper than the other. shouts out to sicness.com (pretty cool). not a bad track, though i feel like it would have been better with only tech.

blackened the sun -
tech uses an unfamiliar style on this track but it works really fucking well. krizz adds a lot to this track as well using a similar style on the chorus (dope). very minimalistic beats work well with violin streaks to add a distinct dark vibe. only thing that shits me is it ends with a sort of skit leading to strange music box.

strange music box -
another good song. tight verses by both krizz, brother lynch and tech. this one doesn't grab me as much as some of the others - maybe because it sounds so familiar to stuff off killer and sickology. the beat gets a little repetitive i think.

cool gangsta style song.. the chick rapper sundae does a surprisingly good job holding her own with tech. t-nutty does well too.

b-boy - the fight song. this song is spectacular lyrically, especially from tech. he uses alliteration in his rhymes like i have never heard before.. the chorus is bangin and i can picture a whole mass of fighting videos on youtube popping up with this as the background music - haha.. i like the way they get all the features out of the way before moving on to tech's obviously better material. nice hype song.

hunterish - this song is pretty fucking good despite its overtly hectic sexual lyrics (which usually doesn't do anything for me). well used minimalist beats with heavy bass drum. the chorus has a weird vibe but is surprisingly appealing. irv does a phenomenal job and even outshines tech i think on this one. lyrics are over the top and quite funny.

in the trunk -
this song harks back to his work on anghellic (similar style of rapping) and works well here. the lyrics are morbidly funny - a tech hater learns the hard way how to respect tech. the idea is reminiscent of shady's work, as in it's overtly psychotic. the final skit part is pretty funny if slightly annoying.

very bizarre style used here and again you can sense the songs are getting darker in their vibe as we go on. very short song which is good i can see this one becoming repetitive.

so were definitely getting darker here. i haven't heard king gordy before but he does a good job although i don't think his style works well with tech's, prozak is okay.

it was an accident -
not a fan of this song. the chorus bugs me too much - and the song just lacks melody i think. we're getting darker still lyrically - covering accidental execution. alan wayne does his job here but isn't anything spectacular.

shadows on the road -
starts with an interesting intro that sets the creepy vibe of the song well. the music is great in this one uses a creepy guitar riff and violins accompanying a nice slow beat. the idea of the song is mysterious and pretty appealing. krizz's chorus is perfect for the song. outro is creepy as well. good song overall.

the song covers the sadness in tech's life, and the lyrics reflect this well. the chorus is pretty epic and krizz really brings it here and (i think) makes the song.

the chorus is really really good in this song and hints at krizz and tech's hard rock kabbosh style (which i love). interesting choir track underneath the beats is cool. the lyrics cover tech's ladykiller side. a few very hectic answering machine bits.

this song is one of my favourites. i love the music in this one, it just gets me going. krizz does his best chorus work on the album here for sure (it's just catchy). some of tech's best K.O.D. verses i think as well - he's obviously put a lot of work into this track. although this song would have widespread appeal because it has an rnb vibe i just think it's really well done.

K.O.D. -
tech follows up a short prayer with the title track KING OF DARKNESS which is kind of funny. this song is great. it uses the same music as in the intro 'warning' at the beginning of the album which works fantastic. tech brings it here - with some really cool lyrical ideas - as he becomes a hellish power. the chorus uses a child's voice accompanied by the chanting of K.O.D. and it works fantastically. a little bit of backward rapping here too which i'd be interested in deciphering . i love how he works his catalogue into the final verse - really creative lyrical work here.

the martini -
man this one is deep. i wasn't familiar with the brian dennis murder until i heard this song. an old school rap song that tells a few stories. kind of sad song hey. chorus is pretty boring here though. i think this one is likable purely for the lyrics. krizz does an amazing work on the album credits too haha

conclusion:

i think overall this album is dope and better than the sum of its parts - the few weak songs here are short lived. I love the dark concept of this album and how it gets progressively more creepy and dark as it goes along - it allows tech to go to some heavy places. tech brings consistently solid and interesting verses throughout (often stylized). krizz kaliko clearly adds heaps to the album with his chorus work. the other (scarce) appearances on the album are mostly good and work pretty well on the tracks they're on.

there are a lot of answering machine drop ins here but surprisingly they didn't bug me as much as they usually would. the skits are all throwaway imo - although i loved that interview that krizz did about the devil worshippin nonsense.

this is better than killer IMO - it has far fewer weaker songs. i'd put it on par with anghellic - just behind absolute and everready. love it!


also if anyone gets a hold of the bonus tracks from the preorder.. holla. cheers.

I like Tech more, but Kutt definitely has talent.
