Is hed selling out?

I know it has been a very long time since I posted anything original apart from a reply to some random topic somewhere,
but when I checked out the topic on the ipod/iphone app, I just had to make this one.
You know , this stuff has been bugging me for quite some time, but after the last two clear *signs* I just had to get this shit off my chest.

Because I just have the feeling hed is selling out bigtime brothers!

The ipod/iphone app just did it for me, this is some cheap shit.
what the fuck is up with that? keep on track with the band at all times? In my opinion not D.I.Y. at all, just some suit&tie fucker trying to gain some profit over the band..

And rereleasing N.W.O.?
As some members of this community posted already; it's just another way to gain more album sales..in other words make more money!
and as for N.W.O. , it is a solid record. but in this way it's just overkill, I already had enough..bring us some more new music.. not just one song.
I fore one, will not be buying this rerelease.. the plain idea of it is just dumb, because basicly if you buy this album, you're not supporting the band in any way. The only thing you're doing is getting anally raped by the morons at Suburban Noize records. And when they make more money over hed's back. they can use that cash to sign more morons on the label that produce shitty music!

The last single also clearly is a sign, because it just sounds like renegade pt2.. nice that there's a killer vid coming up..(or not, who knows?!)

I don't really get it guys, because they are still claiming to have a D.I.Y./ punkrock statement.. but the way i see it, subnoize is making heaps of cash over their backs, so that's not punkrock at all to me. That's just capitalistic bullshit, forcefed to me man..

I tried ignoring it and just ya know, agreeing with everything that they do
But, it's just getting annoying. I am not going to say I dont love even their new music
Because NWO was a great album...but thats no reason to make us buy it 10 times
Whether it's Subnoize or them, it's not fair, its selling out, and its everything they claim to be against

And you know, I think it was either Gimmehed or JamieVolcano (from the old forum)
They said something about how Subnoize approached them before they signed to Koch
And they rejected the offer...and Gimmehed/Jamie (I cant remember who it was) hinted that
We shouldnt believe everything we see/hear Jah say...meaning maybe they dont even like the label lol
So...if that were true, maybe they are in another Jive situation

And also, all this talk against Subnoize...I agree, and think they are just trying to get very popular
I forgot, they signed Brokencyde (one of the most popular groups for the little scene kids)
They want as much money and popularity as they can get...
I wouldnt doubt them controlling HED as much as possible right now

I don't think it's Hed, it looks like Subnoize is forcing them to sell out. I've just written about it in "new edition" thread, it's not just Hed but also KMK and who knows what next.

But as far as I know KMK own the label so it's their own decision to release so much stuff and claim how "exclusive" it is.

When it comes to Hed, maybe they agree to all this bullshit bacause they don't wanna change the label again...anyway, it's plain hypocrisy to claim they're so "underground" and "independent" and then do things like that.

I really wish they went to some other label that would treat them seriously, invest some money in promoting them and producing good videos instead of just using the band for their own profit.

That's why I no longer regret I haven't bought all 3 NWOs. Not sure yet if i'm gonna get the new one, maybe if they really do something more than just adding one song...

I remember in Diy guys 1, jahred opens up by calling major label people fags, but then hed goes and does a marketing scam like majors do. Subnoize probably does push for more hed stuff, cause hed probably brings in a shit load of dough. but i bet the band pushs it too. and maybe this is just jahred trying to get his message further out. at least there getting off there lazy asses.

If you have an iphone enjoy the app. Yeah its defiantly isn't diy. but in my opinion hed isn't really punk at all and shouldn't claim to be, cause they are much more than it. but hey punks whatever you make

depends on how u define "selling out". I dont know any other band doing everything to repel more people/groups with their lyrics and or music. selling out to me is smoothing all edges to be suitable for the mass. they're not doing that at all so my answer would be no, hed is not selling out.

they made renegade, which got put on the radio. when it became successful, they made here and now specifically to be put on the radio.
here and now is a clone of renegade (though i DO like the song)...so, isnt that kind of what you said selling out is?

i do agree that here and now is a renegade clone but i think the motivation is to get more fans and maybe if jah means half of what he says then he really does want the truth to come out to millions of people. but i don't get you guys either cause one minute your stoked about them being on the radio and headbangers and now they are selling out cause they made three versions of an album and now there is a fourth one.They wanted to give their fans an extra 9 tracks and make them exclusive that means that they aren't going to be on the new version no one said you had to buy it just cuz they released it i mean that would make us a bunch of ass kissers lol that cd isn't intended for us cuz we heve the o.g nwo albums, its intended for all the newer fans they have that are multiplying every single day.

ha, noone is forcing you to buy anything.. and if for some reason you feel absolutely obliged as a hed fan to go and buy a product you're not happy with, then you're (lets face it) a moron. i am not targeting anyone here in particular just the idea of extreme fanaticism. i only bought one copy of NWO and downloaded all the bonus shit i couldn't have gotten otherwise without buying the other two. and its not because i'm not a fan - i'm just a tight arse and don't believe in paying more than $25 for an album - bonus tracks or no.

i will also be downloading 'here and now' when it becomes available online for exactly the same reason.

i think tyler makes a good point. this new 'edition' of NWO is not really meant for the people who have bought the 3 original editions and will not contain the bonus tracks found on those versions. IT IS SIMPLY MEANT AS A CONSOLIDATION OF THE RECORD for anyone who hasn't bought NWO yet.. the fanbase IS constantly growing it seems.

note: if you are a hardcore collector then this post does not apply to you. i feel the new version can only add to the weight of your collection.

Anyways man there is so much more news on (hed)p.e. than i thought! Re-releasing NWO? Are you kidding me!? That album needs nothing to be done to it, let alone a re-release. That's just absurd. I thought NWO was a terrific album that made up for Insomnia's mediocrity, but this is a terrible idea.... a whole re-release just for one song?

I would have to agree with wedged as well as the handful of others that this is just plain selling out sometimes nowadays. Trying to milk a cow as much as possible; this ain't right! I just want (hed) to be about the music again and not trying to be so into promoting their pseudo-truth movement shtick that was cute for about for about six months.

If I were Jared I would just release the new song with a handful of other tracks on maybe a split E.P.with another artist or maybe just an e.p. of like 3 or 4 new (hed) songs.

Going over a few more threads on the forum, reveals that (hed)p.e. is just running out of gas or at least Jared is. He is seriously giving me a headache now with his myspace blogs

I just wish they did something more with the new edition than adding just one song. To me the ideal would be to make a 2 CD set with all songs from previous versions + Here and Now, then it would be really worth buying.

Sure it's cool for the new fans with a re'release and an extra track. Im sure though that all the peeps at Subnoize hope that everyone who already has a copy is dumb enough to buy another one! I dont wanna complain too much though, i thought the original idea with the 3 different cd's was an awesome and fun thing to do but yea enough already. A thing that always bummed me out though is the "comercials" inside the jewelcase. The record is supposed to be all serius and shit revealing the "truth" and then the first thing u see when u open it up is a bunch of codes to buy ringtones! lame!

What is Ironic is that when (hed) had a fall from fame, they kind of had the whole "well I never loved her anyway" attitude. You know like denial, they kept saying it was their decision and that they loved being an "underground band".

I thought that was fine by me, I ran with it. I bought the records and loved seeing the band on tour so often. When the band released NWO and renegade was all over American Rock radio station I was glad for the band. Getting radio play and interviews is NOT selling out, but what is selling out is releasing FOUR FUCKING VERSIONS OF YOUR RECORD.

I mean the band become very hypocritical in recent years, they USE the whole "fight the man" image as a tool to capitalise. Its like all the Che Guevera shirts going around, he was a socialist who died for his beliefs, but his face is now being used to make money for some big companies.

A couple of years ago when I saw (hed) on the B2BX tour they said they would be back every year to do a european tour. Yet as soon as the mainstream media gives them an ounce of attention they seem to turn their backs on us and keep rolling round the US.


Personally I would like to see a free download of Here and Now and any other new material on this new record for anyone who has previous copies of NWO. I know that I could easily download it anyway, but the gesture itself would be what matters.

well, if i remember correctly, since the release of N.W.O., it was said that the first version of the cd would come in colors, and after running out, they would be releasing a fourth version, so its no surprise theyre releasing this right now.

but yeah, the new song should be released for free or something if the really wanna show how "punk rock/DiY/underground" they are

i find it kind of weird how some dudes on the one hand have big asperations (like hed touring all over the world and releasing better sound-qualitiy albums) and on the other hand proklaim "dont try to make money"-demands. doesnt fit for me. like andy_factor said, u dont have to buy it, but u know, for hed its the same like for each and everyone of us, u got to feed the monkey!

I don't think anyone has a problem with (hed) making money. I think the problem lies in HOW they make the money. Releasing four N.W.O's is just ridiculous. They should be focusing on making new music. Not cloning a single that went well and releasing yet another N.W.O.

if there is an unsatisifed demand on the market the 4th nwo will work. if there isn't, well, then it wont work. if they're out of stack, why not throw in a new song and new artwork on the new ones? if they're not out of stack, dont bother they wont be making any money with a superfluous product.
as for the "cloned song": i dont care. its a new song and we all know there will be a lot of different songs on the next album. so are we lecturing hed now on when to release what kind of songs? im all on yours side as soon as hed makes a whole icp/renegade clone/no different styles no more-new record. but till then: [insert dickgrabbin jointsmoking and chillin-references of ur convenience here]
