PostSubject: Get (hed) P.E. on The Colbert Report!!!!   Get (hed) P.E. on The Colbert Report!!!! EmptyThu Feb 05, 2009 5:17 am

Heres my plea, send yours to:colbertweb@gmail.com

My name is Greg and I;m from Oakland, CA. I watch only Colbert Report and The Daily Show as my news outlet. I once in a while tune into the controlled media to get the full experience of "douch-baggery" that your shows expose. I am writing make the official plea to have So Cal punk rock legends (hed) P.E. grace The Colbert Report program. I believe it is time for the Colbert Nation and The Truth Movement to finally join forces in exposing the New World Order. Here is their bio: Call them American Punk Rock , narly hip hop funk, or as they like to call it G-Punk, one thing is for sure they are unlike any other band you've seen, they are the one, the only, Hed PE. Otherwise known as "Higher Thought" (Hed), Planet Earth (PE). They are the underdog band that just won't go away, they are so bad, that their actually good. And they have been hanging tough and doing it their way for well over a decade.

The self proclaimed "Grand pubba's of G-Punk" (a fusion of punk. Hip hop, Heavy Metal, and Reggae, Hed PE formed in 1994 out of the tornado that was the reckless Orange County hardcore punk scene. Hed PE was the brain child of vocalist Jahred Shane, also known as "M.C.U.D." (MC Underdog) and guitarist Wes Geer. They wanted to form a different kind of punk band, a punk rock band the likes of which no one had ever seen before. One with all the attitude of bands like Black Flag and the bravado of west coast gangster rap.

Jahred and Wes soon recruited guitarists Chizad, bassist Mawk, Drummer B.C. Vaught and a DJ (almost a pre=requisite for all Nu-Metal bands of the late 90's) DJ Product. They started out in their hometown of Hunnington Beach, CA and slowly but surely built a loyal following based off their chaotic and whacky live shows. After making some noise on the Orange County scene (literally and figuratively) Hed PE were courted by Jive Records and signed with the primarily hip hop label in 1996. They went on to release their self titled major label debut in 1997. The album (and the band) was considered to be rhythmically looser and funkier than the contemporary rap metal bands of the day. Hed PE even drew comparisons to Rage against The Machine, but admittedly, Hed PE's music was unfocused and still very raw, but the band did get props for its raw aggression and showed potential.

Unfortunately for this band of misfits, Hed PE came off to a bad start with Jive records. You see Jive records was used to dealing with Hip Hop and R & B acts but were intrigued enough by Hed PE's unique brand of G-Punk that they decided to take a chance on tapping into the Nu-Metal movement that was about to take America by storm. The problem was they did not know how to promote a band like Hed PE, and because of this album sales suffered and due to contractual obligations, Hed PE found themselves unable to repay the cash advances given to them by Jive. Years later, Jahred would look back at this experience with resentment saying "We had all these romantic visions of the music industry, and we thought it would be cool to be a punk rock band in a rap label. So we fulfilled that dream and it was the worst thing that could've happened to us.

After touring for years to pay back their record label, Hed PE returned to the studio to record their second album for Jive. The appropriately titled Broke was released in August of 2000. The album made it to the Billboard 100 peaking at a modest #63; the highlight of the album was the single "Bartender" which peaked at #23 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song signaled a departure from the bands heavy angst ridden sound and into a more melodic sound that many within the industry did not know they had. While Broke showed that the band was more than just a one trick pony, Hed PE failed to find the same mainstream success that bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn were enjoying at the time.

Although Hed PE was beginning to garner critical praise from Rolling Stone Magazine and other music publications for being a rap/rock band that actually celebrated their bravado and were willing to admit that good times actually do exist. Rolling Stone writer Rob Kemp called them The Motley Crue of their genre.

Hed PE continued to gain new fans the old fashioned way, by touring, they were invited to play the 2001 edition of Ozzfest alongside Korn, Static-x, and System of Down. They embarked on a co-headlining jaunt with fellow rap/metal act Saliva in late 2002. And toured relentlessly opening for a whose who's list of hard rock bands such as Metallica, P.O.D., Slayer, Linkin Park, Korn and Slipknot.

The gangster rockers returned to the studio in 2003 to put out arguably their best album to date Blackout. Whatever production values they lacked in Broke and their self titled debut, the more than made up for, as they say, third time is a charm.

I believe that it was around this time that HED PE replaced one of their guitar players with journey man, the ultra talented Sonny Mayo (Formerly of Snot, Ugly Kid Joe, Amen and most recently Sevendust). Blackout was a much more polished and concentrated effort aimed at making Hed PE more viable to the mainstream modern rock scene. The album's first single "Blackout" was a straight ahead modern rock song complete with catchy melodies and an infectious sing along chorus and was a hit. But it was their second single "Other side" that became the biggest hit for Hed PE. It was a song in the vein of "Bartender" but better. Despite its more mainstream sound, make no mistake Hed PE still offered up plenty of bone crunching guitar riffs and furious back beats.

After selling well over 700,000 records for Jive Records and still feeling disrespected by the hip hop label, HED PE, having full-filled all of its contractual obligations decided to walk on their label in 2004. Deciding to return to their punk rock roots, they signed with fledging independent label Kotch records. This new pairing proved to fit like a hand in a glove. Koch gave Hed PE the freedom that they had longed for since 1997. After returning to a small studio and working mostly from their garages, Hed PE put out the appropriately titled Only in America. The new album was a romping stomping, rude and crude bitch slap to the music industry that was every bit as gangster as it was rock.

Hed PE has since released two other albums independently 2006's Back 2 Base x (Suburban Noize Records) and 2007's Insomnia. And they are getting ready to do it all over again with the release of New World Orphans in stores everywhere this Tuesday January 13th, 2007. If Hed PE has proven one thing throughout their tumultuous career is that they are a genre all unto themselves so expect the un-expected., because these wild boys are here to stay. While California-based hardcore pioneers (hed)p.e. have enjoyed successful albums, and even registered a Top 30 Modern Rock single, they are now embraced as one of the top underground acts on the independent scene. With the release of their seventh studio album, “New World Orphans (NWO)”, the band is once again ready to lead their family of new century youth into the promise land.
With every release (hed)p.e. pushes the boundaries of free speech and socially acceptable content. “For years I have been told to tune down my lyrics. But great art is supposed to push boundaries. That is what makes people take notice and question things. Provocative and thought provoking art leads to dialogue. And dialogue leads to answers. And that is what we all want isn’t it? Answers.”“When I first started making records, I was mostly writing party music, and some subject matter with social commentary,” says frontman Jared, referring to his formative years in the music industry. “I never dreamt that I would one day be in a band that actually has a divine purpose.”The purpose to which Jared refers is what is commonly referred to as “The Truth Movement.”
“Now that (hed)p.e. has developed mentally and spiritually into what we are today, we find that the underground youth are rallying around us. (hed)p.e. is focused and crystal clear. It feels special to be involved in a band that actually stands for something. Cuz like they say ‘if you don’t stand for something – you’ll fall for anything!!!’”“Listen, we come from the land of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. And that still has its place in the world and we haven’t turned our back on what we were, or said in the past. But take a look at the world around you. We did. We woke up one day and said to ourselves something isn’t right. We analyzed it individually and as a band, and decided it was time to wake America’s youth up!!”The wake up call is written all over the group’s new album, “New World Orphans,” and the secrets of the “Shadow Government” and “New World Order” are exposed once and for all. (hed)p.e. are uncovering the web of lies being force fed to the American youth. Undoubtedly their most intensely political album, "New World Orphans" shows the band blending together a potent mixture of heavy, thrash riffs mixed with punk-rock and hip-hop beats into one intoxicating package. The album does more than offer fans new music; it shows the band grabbing the torch to become the leaders of The Truth Movement.“We the People have been manipulated into fighting wars for hundreds of years!!! Pointing out deceptions in our governments and leaders has turned out to be my calling in life; to spread awareness to the youth. Being in this band and spreading the message of Truth across the globe. The Truth Movement found us and we have become a voice to lead the youth of the world. (hed)p.e has become a band with a purpose. THIS IS MORE THAN MUSIC!!!”“We want to wake up the youth to the games of the global elite, so they don't get caught in it,” he says emphatically. New World Orphans is a name that represents those of us who have been abandoned by the System. Even abandoned by our own creators!!! We are the orphans. We in (hed)p.e. and the youth- we represent the orphans. We're out there playing shows to thousands of kids each night who don't have a voice. These kids are orphans, because the powers that be have abandoned them, and don't respect them enough to tell the truth," says Jared. For this release (hed)pe put out a call to arms and united an all-star army to deliver their message. Joining the fight is Strange Music’s Tech N9ne who appears on the track "Work" (a song that tackles the media’s perceptions of sex), California rip-hop hybrids Kottonmouth Kings roll up on "Higher Ground", while Oregon's king of rapid-fire rhyme The Dirtball urges listeners to prepare for battle on "Stay Ready.”“Ordo,” about how the government creates war and chaos so the public gives up freedom for what they think is protection, will be their first single from NWO.Since joining the Suburban Noize stable in 2006, (hed)p.e has enjoyed a rebirth of grand proportions. After a series of releases with major labels that stifled the band’s creativity, (hed)p.e has been embraced by an underground movement that celebrates the musical melting pot that their music exemplifies. Since then the group has opened sold-out tours for Tech N9ne, Kottonmouth Kings and Papa Roach. The group’s last studio release, "Insomnia", landed at #138 on the Billboard Top 200, while the album's lead single "Suffa" was one of the most requested tracks at Sirius Satellite Radio's Hard Attack, and the video was voted one of the Top 10 of 2007 on MTV's Headbanger's Ball, beating out videos by Megadeth, Demon Hunter and Shadows Fall. With the release of “New World Ophans” (hed)p.e. have shed their skin to find clarity amongst the chaos.
Jahred would be a great interview on your show. He is bright and very knowledgable on politics. At his shows he is always griving the audience current news and exposes the lies of our government. Here are some interesting unrehearsed interviews:

Why? That's a perfectly legimate phrase. Infact, I can recall several instances of both Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert using it on their shows.
