PostSubject: Phoenix Jones, Hectic   Phoenix Jones, Hectic EmptyTue Jan 06, 2009 2:57 am

I found some more name for Jah and Mawk side project.

Scroll down to the bottom:

(some other cool stuff i didn't know on that site too)

From wikipedia:
Quote :
After signing with indie label Koch Records and adding guitarist Jaxon and drummer Moke (formerly of Otep), (həd) pe frontman Jahred reworked some material he had originally written for a side project with Fenix Jones and released the album Only in Amerika in 2005. (həd) pe continued to pursue their energetic, profanity-laced rap-metal on this album as well.

^Used the "way-back machine" on hed's wikipedia page.

Most of the lyrics used on OIA were originally intended for his side-project if I remember correctly? But then he decided to use them to create OIA.

yep. that's what i've heard as well. i heard/read that most of the tracks on OIA was an intended phoenix jones album, but they decided to try with (hed) one more time. and that was why OIA was so different from the other (hed) albums at the time. more raw and unedited. more hiphop vs. hardcore and less of the inbetween.

They played from all of the albums on the euro tour last fall (2007). Firsty and everything! So they still play different stuff.

Whenever they play shows in America they may be vistsiting places 2 or 3 times year, alot of the time only playing a supporting slot (which) sucks therefore they are more likely to play newer stuff in order to promote their subnoize albums.

When they places like Europe they have sometimes as long as an hour and 45 mins on stage so they can play alot of stuff. Usually what I hear from the older albums is Firsty, Killing Time, Bartender, Blackout, Crazy Legs and sometimes a rendition of Serpent Boy.
However when they play live this year I hope that they have rehearsed songs from the new album (ideally renegade etc.) and ditch some of the tracks such as Game over. I would prefer to see them hit Suffa and Comeova2nite live because they play the full tracks and really kill them.

Hangman is...... Lets just say hangman is one of the best songs (hed) has produced, but it is kept under the radar as most fans coming in now don't know much about COR. Its our treasure, precious precious hangman.......

When they play old shit, it's usually only part of the songs. And for some reason they only seem to play the weakest material from their newest albums. I just don't get it.

Well I don't know about weakest material. The always play Lets Ride, Suffa, Represent, and Sophia. Those are great songs. I think they would do better if the differed their set list every show, but a lot of the old shit needs to have two guitarists so it looks like we're outta luck. Neutral

I was mainly talking about stuff from their last two albums. Pretty much everything they play from OIA is awesome live. But apart from the other handful of songs you mentioned, they seem to ignore their best new stuff. I have never heard of them playing NOC, Walk On By, Daze of War, Tienneman Squared, or some others live. As far as strong material goes for there new stuff, they don't have a lot to choose from, so they should really try playing some of these. I have a feeling they are going to do the same for NWO.

And I don't know if a lot of the older stuff REQUIRES two guitarists as much as it just sounds better with them. They could easily still play most of their old shit with just Jaxon. They just choose not to.

found some old phoenix jones news (from 2003). Some interesting stuff in here.

Quote :
Fenix One - Jahred's Other Gig

(formerly Hek.Tik and later named Phoenix Jones)
Outside of (HED), Jahred spends his time singing and playing guitar in his side band, known as FENIX ONE. FENIX ONE was formerly called HEK.TIK and later named PHOENIX JONES.

Says Jah, "The line-up's a surprise, there are a couple of members of (HED) and a few members are from around Huntington Beach. There's two singers but it's not like Simon & Garfunkel, the other singer/guitarist used to play in a few bands in Orange County, he's a good singer and that's exciting for me. We already have 12 songs and they have more punk-rapness in them than (HED). It's more punk in the way that it's simplistic because the musicians aren't virtuosos, it's raw and it's good because you have no choice - everyone is playing as good as they can. There's something that can be said about bands who are trying their best, and have something in the heart, but they aren't that good at their instruments."

As for the sound of FENIX ONE, Jahred says "It sounds like Broke, but more punk. People miss [the vibe of Broke] so I'm gonna bring it back on this next one. (hed) P.E. has like three years between each album so I've got this side thing because I've since picked up the guitar; that's how "Blackout" came out [Ed Note: The song "Blackout" was originally a FENIX ONE track]. In FENIX ONE, I'm doing all that crazy punk stuff that I did on Broke. It's just pure me because I just create music constantly so I have a whole album pretty much ready to put out already, of my own shit, which is cool because there are fans that miss that style, the tongue-in-cheek, so I'll be happy to put that out for them again."

Apparently, HED's rep at Jive is totally down with FENIX ONE. Jahred is hoping the label [Jive] will release FENIX ONE in the next year because the whole album is almost written.

and

Quote :
After the line-up change, Jahred toyed with a bunch of different names before deciding to keep the name of the band (hed). Previous names include: Hek.tik, Phoenix Jones, Fenix Jones, Fenix One and Lost Cause. He opted to keep the band name (hed) because he originally came up with the name and will continue to play old (hed)p.e. songs during his live shows.

The tracks "Stepping Stone", "War", and "C.B.C." are all songs Jahred wrote for his "side project" while the band was still (hed)p.e. Originally, the demo contained six tracks and Jahred condensed it to three.

Jahred's original demo for his "side project" (which is now the new hed) contained the tracks "Stepping Stone", "War", "My Bitch", "American Dream", "C.B.C." and "Chicken."
